Visalia Police Arrest Knife-Wielding Beer Theft Suspect After Bicycle Getaway

A 30-year-old man was arrested Sunday after police said he tried to rob a convenience store of two six-packs of beer while armed with a knife and fleeing on a bicycle.

The Visalia Police Department said officers responded to the attempted robbery at a Circle K store and later located the suspect, identified as Gerardo Guzman, near Houston Avenue and Lover’s Lane.

Police said Guzman allegedly threatened a store clerk with a knife before leaving the area on a bicycle. Officers recovered the beer and confiscated the knife, according to the department.

Guzman was booked on suspicion of robbery, resisting or obstructing a police officer, and riding a bicycle under the influence.
