Pedestrian Struck by Train in Madera, Road Closures Reported

Madera police were investigating a train collision involving a pedestrian Wednesday morning near Gateway Drive and Third Street.

The train remained stopped following the collision, blocking east-west traffic along Gateway Drive, according to the Madera Police Department.

Authorities closed Gateway Drive at Olive Avenue, Ninth Street, Sixth Street, Yosemite Avenue, Fourth Street and Third Street. Motorists were advised to use Country Club Drive or Road 28 for east-west travel while the closures remained in place.

Police said they would provide updates as roadways reopen. No additional information about the pedestrian or the circumstances of the collision was immediately released.
