Fresno County Authorities Arrests Drunk Stunt Driver After Pursuit

A Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy arrested a 21-year-old Fresno man on multiple charges after authorities say he was seen spinning donuts at a Fresno intersection, fleeing a traffic stop, and later determined to be driving while intoxicated at more than three times the legal limit, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Josue Torres De La Torre and booked him into the Fresno County Jail on charges of evading police, reckless driving, street racing, and driving under the influence. He has since posted bond and been released.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday a deputy observed an Infiniti Q50 spinning donuts at the intersection of Clinton and Cornelia avenues. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped away, traveling a short distance the wrong way on Shields Avenue before striking a curb and disabling the vehicle, authorities said.

Deputies and assisting patrol units contacted De La Torre and three passengers at the scene. A California Highway Patrol officer conducted a DUI investigation and determined De La Torre was intoxicated at a level more than three times the legal limit, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators also found De La Torre was on probation for a prior DUI arrest and was required to have an ignition interlock device installed on any vehicle he drove, the sheriff’s office said.
