Modesto Elementary School Employee Arrested on Lewd Acts Allegations Involving Child
A paraprofessional at an elementary school in Modesto was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of misconduct involving a student, authorities said.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 12:42 p.m. to Alice Stroud Elementary School after school staff reported that a school employee was allegedly involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit identified Sheila Tierra Ochoa, 27, a paraprofessional with the Empire Union School District assigned to the school, as the suspect, authorities said.
Investigators believe the first incident occurred about four years ago, when Ochoa worked as a school yard duty employee at Alice Stroud Elementary School, according to the sheriff’s office.
She was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14, sending harmful material to a minor, annoying or molesting a minor, willful harm to a minor, and stalking, authorities said.
She was being held on $395,000 bail.
Detectives said the investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine whether there may be additional victims or evidence related to the case.
