Lost Fire Grows to 7,500 Acres in Kern County, Evacuations Remain in Effect

The Lost Fire in Kern County has grown to about 7,500 acres and is 5% contained, with evacuation orders and warnings still in effect as crews continue to battle wind-driven flames, according to CalFire.

The fire, burning about 4 miles northwest of Lokern Road and Lost Hills Road and roughly 35 miles west of Bakersfield, began Thursday and remains under investigation. Officials said it burned actively overnight as winds pushed the fire uphill, contributing to significant growth and spot fires ahead of the main blaze.

Evacuation Orders, Warnings

Evacuation orders remain in place for zones KRN 209-B, KRN 219-B, and KRN 243-B, while evacuation warnings cover KRN 243 and KRN 245. Authorities said the orders reflect an immediate threat to life and that the area is closed to public access.

Fire officials also reported continued threats to structures near Lorken Road as the fire pushed east. Road closures remain in effect, and residents have been urged to avoid the area.
