Iran Finalizes Deal to Buy 100 Boeing Aircraft, Awaits US Approval
Reuters reported that Iran says it has finalized a deal to purchase 100 aircraft from U.S. plane maker Boeing, pending approval from U.S. Treasury authorities, according to Iran’s civil aviation chief.
Ali Abedzadeh said a written agreement has been signed with Boeing, but the final contract will be completed only after a U.S. license is granted.
He said Iran needs to replace 230 of its 250 passenger planes. Boeing has so far only been allowed to present its products to IranAir and other carriers.
Airbus previously secured a provisional deal for 118 jets worth $27 billion. Reuters reported talks had been advancing since June.
