Fresno Police Investigating Homicide After Woman’s Body Found in Canal
Fresno police are investigating the death of a 50-year-old woman whose body was found in a canal on Sunday, May 10, and whose death was later ruled a homicide.
Officers with the Southwest Policing District were dispatched at 11:42 p.m. to a canal bank near Nielsen and Hughes avenues after receiving a report of an adult woman in the water, police said.
Officers arrived and removed the unconscious woman from the canal. Police and emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but the woman died at the scene.
An autopsy completed Tuesday, May 12, by the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office determined the death was a homicide, police said.
The victim was identified as Georgiana McGhee, 50, of Fresno.
