Fresno Motorcycle Crash Kills 13-Year-Old, Leaves 12-Year-Old Critically Injured
A 13-year-old boy was killed and a 12-year-old was critically injured after a motorcycle they were riding was struck by a truck in Fresno late Friday night, authorities said.
Police responded around 10:42 p.m. to multiple reports of a crash at Bullard and Palm avenues. Officers arriving at the scene found the two juveniles on the ground and began medical care before both were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, Fresno police said.
The 13-year-old, identified by the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office as Dominiq Puentes of Fresno, later died. The 12-year-old passenger remained hospitalized in critical condition.
Authorities said the driver of the truck, who was traveling eastbound on Bullard Avenue, called 911 and remained at the scene.
Investigators said the juveniles were riding a motorcycle at the time of the collision. The cause of the crash has not been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police confirmed the vehicle was a smaller motorcycle that still requires the same license and registration as any standard motorcycle.
In a statement, Fresno Unified School District officials said Puentes was a student at Phoenix Secondary Academy and previously attended Tenaya Middle School.
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Dominiq Puentes,” the district said, adding that counseling and emotional support services are being made available to students and staff. “We ask everyone to keep the Puentes family and friends in their thoughts during this difficult time.”
Students can contact the administrative team to access support services, the district said.
