Fresno House Fire Displaces Family of 5, Cause Under Investigation
A house fire in west Fresno displaced a family of five Thursday afternoon, according to the Fresno Fire Department.
Firefighters responded just before 4 p.m. to the 4100 block of W. Cornell Ave. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a house fire. The first engine to arrive found heavy smoke and flames coming from the two-story home.
Because it was initially unclear whether anyone was inside, crews simultaneously searched the home while working to extinguish the fire. No occupants were found inside.
Due to high temperatures and the intensity of the firefighting effort, additional fire companies were called to the scene, bringing a total of 40 firefighters.
The fire caused extensive damage to the home and displaced five residents, including two adults and three children. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
