Shoppers can buy yellow corn for 37 cents per ear. A white corn variety will be available soon after, and a white and yellow bicolor variety will arrive in August.
The market will be open seven days a week through the end of summer from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
The first sweet corn this year was planted on campus on Jan. 12, and additional blocks have been planted since to supply the market through the end of August.
Fresno State Sweet Corn Began in 1981
Sweet corn is one of over 100 student-produced goods from the adjacent 1,000-acre University Agricultural Laboratory, one of the nation’s largest on-campus farms.
The history of Fresno State sweet corn dates back to 1981, when a faculty member and students planted a test project on campus. In 1982, it was sold for the first time at a smaller farm stand on the corner of Chestnut and Barstow avenues, before the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology celebrated the completion of the new Gibson Farm Market in 2013.
The produce section also features apricots, cucumbers, nectarines, peaches, grapefruit, green beans, peppers, squash and zucchini.
New sweet corn merch and Fresno State agriculture shirts are available with campus agriculture tote bags and hats.
Select Fresno State Wines at 45% Discounts
The Fresno State Winery has an end-of-semester sale for its 2020 Pinot Noir and Zinfandel, 2021 Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2025 Graduate’s Reserve red wine blend. All of these wines are 45% off.
Its newly-bottled 2026 Graduate’s Reserve white wine blend is now available, and special Fresno State graduation-themed wine glasses and bottle openers are available.
The market also sells wine at the Save Mart Center at each of the eight college commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday, May 15 to 16.
Ice Cream, Jams, and Raisins
The market’s raisin offerings feature its newest green grape variety, Ivory, as well as Flame, Selma Pete, Sweet Scarlet, Summer Royal and Thompson varieties.
The jam section is restocked with blueberry, peach, strawberry and very berry jam flavors and apple butter.
Newly-pressed olive oil infused with garlic or Meyer lemons, and its miller’s blend are available, as is a new medium roast flavor of coffee grounds and beans.
The candy, nut and dried fruit section features over 40 different items, and pumpkin pie-flavored almonds are discounted 50% off.
The campus creamery has over 20 ice cream flavors made from campus dairy milk and recently welcomed back its mint cookie crush flavor.
Houseplants, herb and vegetable seedlings are available from the horticulture nursery.
Produce and other product supplies vary. Customers can call (559) 278-4511 for daily updates on availability or check the Gibson Farm Market’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.
