Porterville Police Arrest Man After Alleged Church Threat Video Posted on Social Media

A 42-year-old Porterville man was arrested after police investigated a Sunday social media video that allegedly contained an implied threat directed at a Porterville-area church.
The Porterville Police Department said it became aware of the video at about 8 p.m. Sunday. According to police, the video referred to the church as a “terrorist church” and “terrorist group,” included audio of automatic gunfire and depicted the people of Porterville as “demons.”
Detectives identified Paul Flores as the person who created the video, police said. Investigators also determined Flores had an active felony warrant for criminal threats unrelated to the case.
Flores was taken into custody without incident at about 9:30 a.m. Monday, police said. Detectives later served a search warrant at a residence in the 1400 block of State Street in Porterville.
Police said Flores was booked into county jail on charges that include criminal threats and possession of pepper spray by a convicted felon.
