National Weather Service Issues Tornado Warning in Madera, Fresno Counties
Update at 3:10 p.m.
The National Weather Service has ended the tornado warning, the website shows.
Clovis Unified schools were placed under a shelter-in-place order due to the tornado warning. District officials confirmed the shelter-in-place has since been lifted.
Update at 2:57 p.m.
A tornado warning has been issued Tuesday for south central Madera County and northwestern Fresno County until 3 p.m. PT.
Officials confirmed a tornado on the ground near Biola, about 8 miles northwest of Fresno, at 2:37 p.m. moving northeast at 15 mph. The original warning was set to end at 2:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service said the tornado is a “damaging tornado” confirmed by law enforcement, warning that flying debris poses a danger to anyone without shelter, and that mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed along with possible roof, window and vehicle damage, and likely tree damage.

The National Weather Service said Tuesday a tornado warning is in effect until 2:45 p.m. for the area, with officials confirming a tornado hit the ground in 8 miles west of Fresno.
Officials said that the tornado would arrive near Fresno around 2:35 p.m.
This warning is for southwestern Madera County and Central Fresno County.

The agency advised residents to take shelter immediately in basements or interior rooms.
Those outdoors, in mobile homes, or in vehicles were urged to move to the nearest substantial shelter and protect themselves from flying debris.
