Merced County Deputies Arrest 2 After Winton Park Shooting
Two people have been arrested in connection with a June 16 shooting at a community park in Winton that left an adult man critically injured, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded the evening of June 16 to reports of a shooting at Winton Community Park, 7155 Olive Ave. Deputies found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and provided life-saving aid before he was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
As a result of the investigation, Andres Madrigal Haro, 18, was arrested June 17 and booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of attempted murder and gang-related offenses.
Sheriff’s detectives later arrested a second suspect, Alberto Cervantes, 19, in the 12900 block of Highway 140 in Livingston. Cervantes was also booked into the Merced County Jail on attempted murder and gang-related charges.
Investigators said there are no outstanding suspects or ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
