Fresno Police Arrest Man After Alleged Family Assault
Officers from the Fresno Police Department were dispatched Sunday at approximately 11:14 p.m. to a reported physical family disturbance involving an argument over a child’s car seat, according to officials.
Police said the reporting party told investigators her stepfather came to the apartment, where an argument escalated after concerns were raised about the baby not being in a car seat. Authorities said the stepfather became upset and allegedly strangled the victim.
A friend who attempted to intervene was allegedly punched and kicked multiple times by the suspect, resulting in visible injuries, police said.
The suspect, identified as John Allen Cornell, was arrested on multiple charges, including assault likely to cause great bodily injury, child endangerment, and battery.
Police said he was also out on bail at the time of the incident and was additionally booked for committing a felony while out on bond.
