Fresno Police Arrest 2, Recover Loaded Handgun After Traffic Stop
Officers arrested two men Tuesday night after a report of a firearm being brandished led to a traffic stop and the recovery of a loaded handgun and ammunition, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Police were dispatched at approximately 11:25 p.m. to a report of a firearm being brandished. When officers arrived, they observed a white male adult pointing toward a parking lot and stating the involved truck was still on scene.
Officers located a silver four-door lifted Ford F-150 with black wheels facing westbound and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, the driver placed the vehicle in reverse, and officers ordered him to stop while requesting additional units.
The driver and passenger eventually exited the vehicle. Officers reported detecting a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver, and a motor officer was requested to evaluate him.
Several victims told officers the driver had been the individual who brandished the firearm. According to victims and witnesses, the driver became upset after a female was allegedly being disrespectful and pointed a firearm at her. Witnesses positively identified the suspect.
A search of the vehicle turned up a box containing live rounds, as well as a loaded black .40-caliber handgun with an extended magazine, police said.
Both the driver, identified as Anthony Larry Aguins, 30, and the passenger, identified as Guillermo Olmos, 20, were booked into the Fresno County Jail.
