Fresno DUI Crash Injures 9 After Police Pursuit
A man was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI following a three-vehicle collision that injured nine people after he fled a traffic stop Friday night, according to the Fresno Police Department.
At approximately 8:33 p.m., an officer responded to East Olive and North Maple avenues to assist with the crash, which authorities said was caused by Tyrion Davis after he fled from a traffic stop.
An officer followed Davis from the scene to Community Regional Medical Center, where a DUI investigation was conducted after Davis showed objective signs of intoxication, including bloodshot and watery eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverages, police said.
Investigators determined Davis was under the influence and arrested him for felony DUI. Police said Davis also had an active felony warrant out of Tehachapi.
Nine people were injured in the collision, including one victim who was seriously injured, according to police.
Davis remains at CRMC receiving treatment for a broken back, a broken left arm, and a laceration to his lip.
Authorities said he will be booked into the Fresno County Jail after receiving medical clearance.
