Fresno County Vegetation Fire Burns Near Dunlap

A vegetation fire burning near Dunlap remained between a quarter-acre and a half-acre Friday afternoon as firefighters worked to contain the blaze, according to Watch Duty.

The fire, named the Dunlap Fire, was reported in the 39600 block of East Kings Canyon Road. When crews arrived, they found a vegetation fire measuring about 20 by 30 feet burning uphill in heavy brush, Watch Dury said.

By about 4:10 p.m., the fire had grown to between a quarter-acre and a half-acre and was spreading at a slow rate through heavy brush and grass, with the potential to reach 10 to 20 acres, Incident Command said.

Fire officials later said the blaze remained at about a half-acre with a slow to moderate rate of spread. Fixed-wing air tankers had been released from the incident, while a helicopter remained assigned, the website showed.

Incident Command requested the closure of Kings Canyon Road between Dunlap Road and Todd Eymann Road as crews continued suppression efforts, Watch Duty reports.

No information on injuries or the cause of the fire was immediately available.
