Fresno County Turney Fire Reaches 85% Containment After Overnight Progress

A wildfire burning in Fresno County has grown to 1,200 acres and is 85% contained as of early Monday, according to CalFire.

The blaze, named the Tumey Fire, started Sunday along Panoche Road and remains active. The cause is under investigation.

Crews made significant progress overnight, increasing containment to 85% while holding the fire at 1,200 acres, officials said in a 6:21 a.m. update from the Fresno-Kings Unit public information officer.

Evacuation warnings have been issued for zones P6, P7 and P31, authorities said.

Fire crews continue suppression efforts with support from numerous air tankers deployed from across the state as conditions allow. Ground resources assigned to the incident include six engines, two water tenders, two dozers and two hand crews, along with additional personnel, bringing the total to 70 firefighters.

No injuries, fatalities, or structure damage have been reported.
