Fresno Arson Fire Destroys Vacant Home, Damages Neighboring House

A vacant home under construction following a previous fire was destroyed in a blaze late Wednesday night that investigators have determined was intentionally set, according to the Fresno Fire Department.

Firefighters were called just before 8:20 p.m. to the 2300 block of S. Lily Ave. after multiple reports of a house fire. Crews arrived to find the structure fully involved, with flames spreading to a neighboring residence.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze while also protecting the adjacent home, preventing further spread. A total of 30 firefighters responded, including assistance from Fresno County Fire.

During the incident, overhead power lines fell onto a metal chain-link fence, creating a hazard for crews until the Pacific Gas and Electric Company de-energized the lines.

The original structure was declared a total loss. The neighboring residence sustained minor damage, and two residents were temporarily displaced. No injuries were reported.
