Clovis Police Release List of Most Dangerous Intersections, Cite Rise in Crashes

The Clovis Police Department has released its list of the top 10 intersections for collisions on Tuesday, highlighting continued safety concerns at several of the city’s busiest roadways.

The department said the intersections identified for 2025 are largely consistent with those in previous years, with several also appearing on lists of frequent traffic citation locations.

Officers responded to 1,273 collision reports last year, a 21% increase from 2024, according to police. The leading causes of crashes were unsafe speed, unsafe turns and failure to stop at a red signal. Police also said drivers under the influence were responsible for 70 collisions.

Tuesday was the most common day for crashes, and the highest concentration occurred between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., the department said.

The top 10 intersections for collisions in 2025 were:

  1. Herndon and Clovis avenues — 33 collisions.
  2. Shaw and Willow avenues — 29 collisions.
  3. Shaw and Peach avenues — 23 collisions.
  4. Shaw and Villa avenues — 20 collisions.
  5. Herndon and Fowler avenues — 19 collisions.
  6. Shaw and Clovis avenues — 17 collisions.
  7. Barstow and Villa avenues — 16 collisions.
  8. Bullard and Villa avenues — 16 collisions.
  9. Nees and Willow avenues — 16 collisions.
  10. Barstow and Fowler avenues — 15 collisions.

Police urged drivers to limit distractions, wear seatbelts, slow down during inclement weather, and obey posted speed limits.
