Clovis Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua Launches Bid for Fresno County Supervisor
Clovis Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua announced Friday that he will run for Fresno County Board of Supervisors District 5, drawing support from a coalition of local elected officials, education leaders, business advocates, and community members.
Among those endorsing Mouanoutoua was Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer, who called him “a unifier” and said he “places people above politics” and “above party.”

“Vong does the right thing for the right reason, not just some of the time, but all of the time,” Dyer said.
Clovis City Councilmember Speaks in Support
Former Clovis Mayor and Councilmember Lynne Ashbeck described Mouanoutoua as a serious and prepared leader who “works harder than any council member that I have ever worked with.”
Clovis Mayor Pro Tem Diane Pearce, who also serves as a Councilmember, is also vying for the Fresno County Supervisor District 5 seat.

Yolanda Moore, a Clovis Unified trustee, said Mouanoutoua’s leadership is defined by collaboration and listening, while Mendota Mayor Victor Martinez said he has consistently demonstrated “exemplary leadership, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to public service.”
In his announcement speech, Mouanoutoua highlighted his family’s journey as Hmong refugees and outlined priorities including public safety, education, economic development, support for small businesses, and services for vulnerable residents.

“You’ve heard today already that that’s what I’m about and that’s what I want to give,” Mouanoutoua said. “Community choose the right person. We’ll put the county first, we’ll put humans first over ideology, over name-calling, over self-promotion.”
Others in attendance included Fresno City Councilmember Tyler Maxwell and Fresno City Council candidate Nav Gurm.
Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig, who currently holds the seat Mouanoutoua is seeking, was also present but did not take part in the press conference.
