CIA Assessment Finds Gulf Allies Split on Backing Trump’s Iran War
A classified CIA assessment found Gulf allies divided over support for the Trump administration’s war against Iran, according to Capital & Empire.
The report said the UAE and Bahrain favor continued U.S.-Israeli strikes, while Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait prefer negotiations with Tehran.
Oman opposes military action and may support joint management of the Strait of Hormuz with Iran. Analysts said Gulf states are increasingly reluctant to back wider conflict because of economic and security risks.
The assessment also suggested Iran could withstand a U.S. naval blockade for several months, contradicting President Donald Trump’s public claims that Tehran is near collapse.
