4.7 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Nevada Near Alamo, USGS Reports

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck southern Nevada on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake occurred at 8:06 PT about 16 miles south-southwest of Alamo, at a depth of 6.5 kilometers.

The event was recorded with a magnitude of 4.7 ml, with an uncertainty of ±0.2. The depth estimate carried an uncertainty of ±0.4 kilometers.

USGS data show the earthquake was detected by 49 stations, with 49 seismic phases used in the analysis.

The earthquake’s review status is listed as automatic and has not been reviewed yet.
