Bulldogs Coordinator Wants to See a More Explosive Offense

With a stronger arm possibly at starting quarterback than last season, Fresno State offensive coordinator Josh Davis said the Bulldogs need a more explosive offense.

“If we don’t become more explosive, I’m not so sure how championship caliber we’re going to be. So yes, we have to become a more explosive offense. The arm strength is a key ingredient in how to push the ball downfield. We still have to block at a high level. We want to be efficient with our quick game and our intermediate pass. But yes sir, if we stretch the field a little more often — a lot more often — we’re not putting pressure on the defense the way we need to,” Davis told the media last week.

That strong arm belongs to Khristian Martin, the Maryland transfer in the lead to be Fresno State’s starting quarterback.

Fresno State is in spring practice, with the showcase game on April 25. The season — the first in the rebuilt Pac-12 — starts Sept. 5 at USC.
